People commonly drown in semi-shallow water because they panic. If you just relax, you will naturally rise to the surface.
If you panic, your fight-or-flight center of the brain takes over and all rational thinking is subjugated. All creativity and ingenuity is suppressed. Your mind becomes jumbled and you freeze up right when you need to be at your most agile.
Plus, it is really no fun. And rule one is to have fun. That is, embrace whatever experience life gives you.
Many times, the first reaction is, “That’s it. My life is over. My family and I are going to be out on the street.”
But, think about it. Realistically, how many families do you know that actually end up on the street, whatever the unfortunate event? It is not an impossibility, but generally, when someone is out living on the street, there is more to the story than they just lost their job.
If you don’t panic, continue to think reasonably, use your skills, creativity and innovation, and truly believe it will all work out, the Universe will align itself to show you the way.
A certain amount of anxiety is understandable. But do not allow it to consume you. You may not be able to see the path out from where you stand right now, but God and the Universe does.
Here is a little story to illustrate.
A man slips and falls over the edge of a cliff. As he falls, he grabs hold of a protruding tree root. However, from his perspective, he cannot see it, but there is a solid ledge just inches below his feet. In desperation, he cries out, “God, please save me! Show me the way!” A voice then booms out of the heavens that simply says, “Let go!” The man considers it, can’t make sense of it and replies, “What was that?” Again, the voice booms out, “Just let go!” The man thinks for a minute and then replies, “Anybody else up there?”
It can be hard to let go, to trust that things will turn out well, to believe.
Hebrews 13:5 — “For he has said: ‘I will by no means leave you nor by any means forsake you.’”
